One of my favorite Christmas movies is The Christmas Shoes. I especially love a quote by its writer, Donna VanLiere, that says, "If we are open to it, God can use even the smallest thing to change our lives... to change us. It might be a laughing child, car brakes that need fixing, a sale on a pot roast, a cloudless sky, a trip to the woods to cut down a Christmas tree, a school teacher, a Dunhill Billiard pipe..., or even a pair of shoes. Some people will never believe it. They may feel that such things are too trivial, too simple, or too insignificant to change a life forever. But I believe. And I always will.”

The first thing I would like to highlight is in the first six words of this quote, "If we are open to it." Change requires willingness; you have to be willing to accept the challenge. It requires that you start looking at your flaws, fears, and insecurities to identify what needs change. We are near to celebrating the end of this year and receiving a new year, so it is crucial for us to auto analyze ourselves. By immersing in this analysis, we can stop repeating the same errors and continue our growth. When we accept change, we open our eyes to many possibilities that we did not see before. We start seeing the little miracles instead of focusing on the lacks.

Many things can spark change; as the quote says, it can be anything, even what we may consider trivial. When we accept change, we start forgiving ourselves for what we did wrong, and that forgiveness takes us into a healing process that is much needed before we can continue. Then, when this healing process starts, other blessings start flowing. Why? Because in healing, we find peace, strength, courage, comfort, joy, knowledge, guidance, hope, and lastly, but not least, we find ourselves. On the other side of healing and change, many rewards are waiting, but we must be willing to take the first steps towards them.
